Hoteles Reverón has been honoured with the ‘Amables del Turismo y Convivencia Ciudadana’ award, presented by the Centre for Initiatives and Tourism (CIT) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in its 43rd edition.
This recognition rewards our track record and commitment to hospitality, civic coexistence and the values that make Tenerife a welcoming, humane and sustainable destination.
A recognition of Tenerife’s hospitality and history.
On 11 December 2025, the ‘Amables del Turismo y Convivencia Ciudadana’ award is the oldest in the tourism sector in the Canary Islands.
The award was collected by Juan Francisco Reverón Sebares, the fourth generation of the family at the helm of the business, on behalf of the entire family and the team at Hoteles Reverón. For the Reverón family, this award is recognition of decades of discreet effort, constant work and a vocation for service to those who visit the island and those who form part of the company’s staff.

From the Fonda Aeropuerto to the present day.
The origins of Hoteles Reverón can be traced back to Juan Reverón and his mother, Antonia Reverón Sierra, who opened the Fonda Aeropuerto, the first tourist complex in the south of Tenerife, in Los Cristianos, when it was still a small fishing village without drinking water, electricity or basic infrastructure. That establishment, which later became a guesthouse and Hostal Reverón, not only offered accommodation but also provided essential services to local residents for decades.

Values that define the Reverón family.
The recognition also pays tribute to the work of Tina, Juan’s wife, and his sister Carmen, who supported the family and the business after the founder’s untimely death. Tina stood out for her caring and welcoming nature, treating customers and employees as part of the family. Carmen was a model of hard work and discipline, working seven days a week and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to more than 150 people per shift. Her approach to work, excellence and sacrifice continues to inspire the company’s culture of service today.
The figure of Juan Francisco Reverón, son of Tina and Juan, represented the consolidation of the family project, combining his father’s entrepreneurial vision, his aunt Carmen’s determination and his mother’s human touch. The current management, headed by Juan Francisco Reverón Sebares, has taken on the challenge of living up to this legacy, adapting it to modern times without renouncing its family roots or its commitment to responsible tourism.
The family also emphasises the importance of passing on these values to new generations: respect for visitors, recognition and care for the team, the will to overcome difficulties and the ability to innovate and dream in the long term, as the keys to a project that is now approaching a century of history.
Kindness as a form of tourism.
In an increasingly digitalised sector, we believe that the difference continues to lie in the human touch.
Being ‘kind in tourism’ is not a label, but a daily attitude: listening, caring and creating memorable experiences for those who visit us, while contributing to the well-being of our community.
Every smile at reception, every personalised recommendation and every story shared with our guests builds the legacy of Reverón Plaza: tourism based on empathy, respect and coexistence.
