Hoteles Reverón has been awarded the distinction “Amables del Turismo y Convivencia Ciudadana”, granted by the Centro de Iniciativas y Turismo (CIT) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife at its 43rd edition.
This recognition honors our history and commitment to hospitality, civic coexistence, and the values that make Tenerife a welcoming, human, and sustainable destination.
A recognition of hospitality and the history of Tenerife.
On December 11, 2025, the “Amables del Turismo y Convivencia Ciudadana” award is the oldest in the tourism sector in the Canary Islands.
The award was received by Juan Francisco Reverón Sebares, fourth generation of the family leading the business, on behalf of the entire family and the team at Hoteles Reverón. For the Reverón family, this award represents recognition of decades of discreet effort, constant work, and a vocation of service toward those who visit the island and those who are part of the company’s staff.

From Fonda Aeropuerto to today’s legacy.
The origins of Hoteles Reverón date back to Juan Reverón and his mother, Antonia Reverón Sierra, who opened the Fonda Aeropuerto, the first tourist complex in southern Tenerife, in Los Cristianos, when it was still a small fishing village without running water, electricity, or basic infrastructure. That establishment, which later became a guesthouse and Hostal Reverón, not only provided accommodation but also supplied essential services to local residents for decades.

Values that define the Reverón family.
This recognition also pays tribute to the work of Tina, Juan’s wife, and his sister Carmen, who sustained the family and the business after the founder’s early passing. Tina stood out for her caring and welcoming nature, treating guests and employees as part of the family. Carmen was an example of effort and discipline, working seven days a week and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to more than 150 people per shift. Their understanding of hard work, excellence, and sacrifice continues to inspire the company’s service culture today.
The figure of Juan Francisco Reverón, son of Tina and Juan, represented the consolidation of the family project, combining his father’s entrepreneurial vision, his aunt Carmen’s determination, and his mother’s human warmth. The current management, led by Juan Francisco Reverón Sebares, takes on the challenge of living up to that legacy, adapting it to modern times without renouncing its family roots or its commitment to responsible tourism.
The family also emphasizes the importance of passing these values on to new generations: respect for visitors, recognition and care for the team, determination to overcome difficulties, and the ability to innovate and dream long-term, as key elements of a project that is approaching a century of history.
Kindness as a way of doing tourism.
In an increasingly digitalized sector, we believe the true difference still lies in the human touch.
Being “amables del turismo” is not a label, but a daily attitude: listening, caring, and creating memorable experiences for those who visit us, while contributing to the well-being of our community.
Every smile at reception, every personalized recommendation, and every shared story with our guests build the legacy of the Reverón Plaza: tourism based on empathy, respect, and coexistence.
